Kosha Engler is an award-winning actress and voice artist based in London.
HOW DO YOU SAY YOUR NAME?
It’s KAH-shuh or /ˈkɒʃə/ for International Phonetic Alphabet fans. My parents (American) met a nice waitress called Kasia (Polish) and named their first and only child after her, then changed the spelling. As you do.
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
Cockeysville, yes Cockeysville, Maryland, USA - home of the Baltimore Ravens, Orioles and crabs (the kind you eat).
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO LONDON?
Love. I married a dashing Brit called Benet. We now have two half American half British kids who speak with a very English accent.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO?
I’ve just completed filming for a Lifetime/Sony Pictures TV movie in Sofia, Bulgaria and will appear in a major Warner Bros. feature film released in 2020. In early 2018 I was in VICTORIA series 2 for ITV/PBS Masterpiece as Hannah Langridge, a rich American who has a thing with Francatelli the queen’s chef. On stage I recently played Gertrude, Ophelia, Horatio and Rosencrantz in a three-person 90-minute Hamlet at the Park Theatre directed by the wonderful duo, Simon Evans and David Aula.
I also act regularly in top video games (often doing motion capture), and as a voice artist in cartoons like Disney’s Furiki Wheels and commercials for clients like Maybelline UK and GAP.

WHERE DID YOU START OUT?
I began acting in the Baltimore/Washington DC area where made my TV and film debuts in HBO’s The Wire and Disney's Tuck Everlasting. Theatre was my first love and I regularly acted at The Folger Shakespeare Theatre, The Studio Theatre and The Kennedy Center. I trained at the University of Maryland College Park where I earned a BA in Theatre on a full performing arts scholarship. Before that I graduated cum laude from Notre Dame Preparatory School in Towson, Maryland receiving the theatre and choral medals for outstanding achievement.

I am an emerging script writer supported by 20 years as an award-winning actress on stage and screen, and many years as a copywriter. Having read and performed hundreds of scripts I have a well-honed sense of drama, stakes and pace. I'm a natural collaborator and thrive in a team. I'm interested in strong female characters and drawn to themes of ambition and being an outsider.
My latest project is an action/drama feature called The Fantasy Ridge, which is a 2017 Final Draft Big Break Top 10 Finalist, 2018 Austin Film Festival Second-Rounder and 2018 Scriptapalooza Quarter-Finalist. It's about an estranged sister and brother who attempt to climb the last unconquered route to Everest's summit -- the one that killed their father. The story is fiction, the place is real. Legendary explorer George Mallory said the route is so impossible it can be climbed only in the imagination. To date, all attempts have failed. The script has already had interest from producers.
My short script Black Lotus was a finalist in The Impact 50 project, and two of my other scripts have been shortlisted in competitions. Judgment Day, a one act play I wrote and performed, will be published in Dramatic Shorts: Volume 3.
